Attention NRA Instructors and all members:
We need help on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm for the junior program. There has been a lot of interest lately with many juniors attending. Helping out will fulfill your volunteer requirement.

Volunteering
The reason the club initiated the $25 annual fee per member was because of the lack of volunteers to keep the club running. The money is used to pay for these services. All members may volunteer instead of paying the $25. Call any board member if you are interested in volunteering. See our maintenance page for examples of volunteering. Just drop a note in the office mail box on the second floor with the date, time and service you provided. Four work sessions will eliminate your $25 fee. Questions or concerns about this please email info@weymouthsportsmensclub.com.

Lady’s Night – Date TBA
Several of our certified NRA instructors will be offering a free hands on introduction to shooting and basic firearms safety night for women. If you know anyone who might be interested in shooting, please let them know about Lady’s Night. More info to come.

Pistol Permits
Dick Striano is working on setting up a meeting with the second amendment group, Comm2A, for gun owners who have been having problems with obtaining a gun license. More info to follow. Info will also be posted at the club.

Over the past year it has become apparent that many of our members, living in certain towns, have been denied unrestricted LTC. If you feel this situation applies to you, or you have had any other problems relative to pistol permits, please leave your name and phone number on the list posted on the current event board just inside the front door of the club or send an email to info@weymouthsportsmensclub.com.

Instructors Course
Dick Striano will be offering an NRA rifle, shot gun and home firearm safety class for instructors. Date has not yet been determined. If you are interested in signing up email Dick.

New Member Orientation
New member applicants are required to attend an orientation meeting in order to obtain key card access to the club and the range. All potential new members must sign up for and attend the session which is held one night a month on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. See the calendar for dates. Send an email to info@weymouthsportmensclub.com with your name and the date of orientation you will be attending. Please note: Your application must be completed and submitted at least one week prior to date of new member orientation meeting you will be attending or you will need to sign up for the following month. No exceptions. More information about joining the club can be found here.

Instructor Procedures for Range and Club UseBecause of the growing number of certified instructors we feel we need some guidelines to keep things running smoothly.

  • First, regardless of the number of students in the range, only one booth should be used by instructors.
  • The range is to remain open to all members, even during training. One student shoots and the others observe and critique.
  • Vests are for guests, not students being trained.
  • Club training rules and the NRA, specify using 22s only for the actual training. After training the instructor may introduce center fire handguns to be shot. The exception is students from Boston, where they are tested using 38s. The club should be notified in advance if 38’s are to be used.
  • The donation of $25 per student must be paid at the time of training. Checks may be left in the guest or locker boxes, or under the office door. In the event that an instructor chooses to do the verbal part of the course outside of the club and train in the range the donation of $25 still applies.
  • Students are not guests.
The next issue is use of facilities. To date we have had almost no conflicts. This club can handle several instructors at one time. Training may be done in the upstairs hall, downstairs hall, lobby or even an office. If you know ahead when you will be training mark the date and time on the instructor calendar located on the door to the back room on the first floor.

Also, email your request to richardstriano@yahoo.com. If you need a particular space, email in advance for approval. You may contact Dick Striano by phone 781-749-7271, cell 781-264-2884.
