It is with great sadness that we note the recent passing of Glenn Murray, age 53, who passed away following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Glenn leaves his family, including his two teenage sons. He was a very active member of our executive board. He set up and managed the computer network for the club, was in charge of the membership committee and helped out whenever needed.
Glenn owned and operated GM Networks, a computer service company. He was active in his community as member of the Weymouth Sportsmen’s Club, American Pool Players Association and Weymouth Elks. He was an avid Patriots fan and most of all loved riding his motorcycle.
Glenn was a loyal friend and could always be counted on. He will leave a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Toys for Tots
The club is now accepting toys for the Toys for Tots program. The donation bin is located in the downstairs meeting room. Please donate any new and unwrapped toys. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Note from the Club Manager
When sweeping down range please dump trash ONLY in the barrel behind the red line. PLEASE DO NOT PUT TRASH IN THE BUCKET WITH THE BRASS SHELL CASINGS. All of the money made from the brass shell casings and the lead goes into the junior program; so the more trash mixed in with the metals, the less money the kids get.
We are in an effort to spruce up the club. Anyone who would like to donate hunting or fishing items (i.e. taxidermy mounts, pictures etc.) to the club, please contact the club manager Joseph Fee 781-724-1512

Notice to all NRA instrutors training at WSC
Effective immediately. All instructors will be required to submit names and phone numbers of students they are training at the club. This policy has been in place in past. We want to reinstitute it so we can follow up with phone calls to try and increase our membership.
If a student joins the club as part of the new membership drive (see below), instructors will pay the club $10 for training. If students train and don’t become a member than the instructor pays $25 to the club. Usual membership fee is $130 plus $50 joining fee.

The JOAD Club is growing at a nice pace. The JOAD Club has received a supply of pin awards for when the JOAD Archers shoot for a pin qualification at the end of each month. This month of December there will be no pin qualification because of the Christmas Holiday Season. Starting January 2013, I have planned for the last Saturday of each month, from 9am until 12noon a “Star Pin” qualification round. So, Tuesdays are the practice evenings from 6:30pm until 8pm to prepare for this Saturday event . To achieve a “Star Pin” a JOAD Archer will shoot a 30 arrow round, which is 10 ends to a round: 3 arrows are shot within a 2 minute time limit for each end. Upon successful completion of a qualifying round the JOAD Archer will receive their Star Pin. Currently the JOAD Archers are shooting on the 9M line as “Novice Archers” and are currently shooting at 40cm multi colored targets.JOAD Archery meets Tuesday’s from 6:30pm to 8pm. There is a $5.00 fee per person for each lesson. Check the calendar for meeting dates. Email David Griffith the program director with questions and to sign up. Come join the fun!
The Junior Program
The Junior program is in full swing. The group meets every Wednesday night 6:30 to 8:00 p.m except during school vacations and snow days. Anyone interested in attending can just stop by on a Wednesday night.

Classes offered at the club
The Weymouth Sportsmen’s Club offers classes in women’s shooting, scout merit badges for rifle and archery, refuse to be a victim, Eddie Eagle and Mass/NRA certified pistol intructor classes throughout the year. In addition certified instructor classes are offered in rifle, shotgun, personal protection, home firearm safety and range safety officer. New Member Orientations
New member applicants are required to attend an orientation meeting in order to obtain key card access to the club and the range. All potential new members must sign up for and attend the session. Orientation is held monthly on the first Tuesday of each month following the general meeting at 8 p.m. Choose a date then email info@weymouthsportmensclub.com with your name and the date of orientation you will be attending.
Please note: your application must be completed and submitted at least two weeks prior to the date of new member orientation or you will need to sign up for the following month.
B.S.A. Venture Crew 73

Scituate Rod and Gun Club
In an effort to promote the sport of skeet, the Scituate Rod and Gun club, would like to invite all members of the WSC to come and shoot skeet at the SRGC at the member rate of $3.00 per round. Skeet is run on Sundays from 11am-6pm and on Wednesdays 5pm-9pm, under the lights. Turnout can be sparse on Wednesdays, during the winter months, so it is suggested that you call the club before coming down. (781)545-1510.
