How to obtain your firearms license

1. Determine the requirements of the law enforcement agency (Police Dept.) in the town where you live. Check the  town/city website.

2. The following is a list of things you may need to complete the application depending on the requirements of your town law enforcement agency. For any questions, please contact your town's licensing officer.
   -Birth certificate
   -Personal statement
   -Letters of recommendation
   -Certificate of completion of a firearms safety course certified by Mass State Police and taught by
      Mass State Police certified instructor. (Required)
   -Money - $100.00 required for Class A LTC, $25 for class D FID card (Required)
   
    
3. Find an instructor and take the required certified safety course.  Weymouth sportsmen's club has many certified instructors.
   
    
4. After completing the steps above, set up an appointment with the licensing officer in your town.
   Once your application has been submitted, it may take 5 to 6 weeks to get your license.
