The Club consists of about 325
members and is open for members 7
days a week, 24 hours a day with proximity card access. Many of our members are certified
Mass/NRA Firearms Instructors offering training for
Mass Pistol Permits, FID cards and Boy Scout merit badges.
We offer NRA certified instructor courses in
pistol, rifle, shotgun, personal protection, home firearm
safety and certified range safety officers. We have a Girl Scout troop is in residence and Boy
Scouts who use our outdoor facilities for various activities. Wednesday evenings our
junior group, ages 11 to
18, meet from 6:30 to 8:00pm. General
member meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.
All members are welcome and encouraged to attend!
See calendar for dates.
In November 2002 The Weymouth Sportsmen’s Club,
established in 1929, had its club house burned to the
ground, by a fire of suspicious origin. Only the foundation
remained. Early in 2003 we began to visit nearly every shooting
facility in the area. Each of the clubs visited gave us more
ideas for our new building. In late 2006 the “new” Weymouth
Sportsmen’s Club reopened. Because of its close proximity to
residents, we tried to make the building resemble a large
house. We are really pleased with the results. Construction
was done by the Ryder Development Corp. of Weymouth.
Beside the outside appearance our new building has little
in common with the old structure. In the new building we
have town water and sewage, four handicapped bathrooms and
central heating and air conditioning. The premises are
protected by a sprinkler system, monitored fire and security
systems as well as surveillance cameras.

The
club's new building has 2 levels. The front door is on the
ground level and brings you into a ceramic tiled lobby/lounge
area with a sofa and chairs and a color TV.
Beyond the lounge is a
large work room with a conference table, chairs, storage
rooms, lockers, vending machine, coffee maker, gun cleaning
facilities, dart board and another TV and stereo. |

Next to the lounge is the shooting range. The range includes six
large shooting
booths each with overhead lights, electric
target carriers and steel in the walls
between all stations. All shooting is done
from the booths, targets may be brought back to shoot
from distances of 15 to 50 feet. The range
has its own heating system as well as a double exhaust system
and includes a new armor plate back stop
rated to handle all handguns (lead and Jacketed bullets) as well
as rimfire rifles. The snail bullet recovery
system leaves little or no backsplash. |

The
second floor is home to our new twenty
yard indoor archery range. A high ceiling and many windows
makes it light and bright for the eight shooting lanes. Also on
the second floor is a large carpeted function/meeting hall with
offices and storerooms. The upstairs is accessible by two
stairways, one with a handicapped chair
lift. |
